Jeffrey Dorr-Slowey

Jeffrey (Amika Gabow) is a cultural healer, community organizer, and current fellow at T.O.N.E. U.P., where he supports both group sessions and individual outreach across programs. His journey to this work has been anything but linear—and that’s what makes his presence so powerful.

After years of learning through life’s hardest experiences—including incarceration, addiction, loss, and spiritual awakening—he found himself called back to Minneapolis with a deeper purpose. When he returned home, he immediately reached out to Antonio Williams, Founder & Executive Director of T.O.N.E. U.P., ready to work, ready to help. He began attending events, trainings, and anything that needed hands-on support. His consistency, dedication, and presence eventually led to him being selected for the Liberation of Leaders Fellowship—a program designed to support returning citizens in their journey of healing, growth, and civic engagement.

As part of his fellowship, Jeffrey works to educate and recruit community members for opportunities connected to the Clean Slate Law, helping people navigate the complex process of expungement. He’s also focused on helping build T.O.N.E. U.P.’s membership base—sharing information about the organization’s reentry support, services, and holistic approach to healing and accountability. He’s experienced firsthand what it means to fall, get back up, and walk with humility, and he brings that same energy into his work with others.

Rooted deeply in Indigenous spiritual practices and the Seven Grandfather Teachings—Love, Respect, Honesty, Bravery, Truth, Humility, and Wisdom—Jeffrey sees healing as sacred work. From sweat lodges to ceremony, from street outreach to storytelling, he leads with compassion and conviction. He doesn’t ask for anything but the opportunity to help people get what they need and to walk with them as they find their way.

For him, this isn’t just service—it’s purpose.
