T.O.N.E. U.P.
Empowering Second Chances, Building Stronger Futures.
WHAT WE DO
T.O.N.E. U.P. (Teaching Ourselves New Examples to Uplift People) is a nonprofit founded by individuals directly impacted by the justice system—people who understand the barriers to reentry because they’ve faced them head-on.
We exist to eliminate the obstacles that returning citizens encounter: unstable housing, job discrimination, limited access to resources, and the emotional weight of rebuilding a life. From pre-release planning to post-release support, we provide mentorship, job readiness, emergency housing assistance, legal education, and real community connection.
WE’RE CHANGE MAKERS
Our work goes beyond services—it’s about systems change. Through re-entry support, civic engagement, and policy advocacy, we help individuals not only return home, but stay home and succeed. Whether you’ve been impacted by incarceration yourself or are navigating life after a loved one’s sentence, T.O.N.E. U.P. is here with a clear path forward and a community ready to walk it with you.

OUR MISSION
T.O.N.E U.P. (Teaching Ourselves New Examples to Uplift People) is a non-profit organization driven by the expertise of justice-impacted Black and Brown community members. Our mission is to empower fellow justice-impacted individuals through holistic re-entry services and inclusive democracy engagement. By focusing on character building, coaching, leadership development, mutual aid, political education, and democracy engagement, we aim to bridge the gap in re-entry services that lack guidance from those with lived experience.
We are committed to creating safe, dignified, and relatable spaces where justice-impacted people can thrive, heal, and lead.
